Strategy Combat – Mastering the art of war
While most of us are sitting at home at the moment, we took the additional spare time and tried out one of the most recently released free to play strategy games that goes by the name of Strategy Combat. Tanks, Bases, upgrades and warfare on a massive scale are just some of the things that this game has in store for you.
Official Trailer from Strategy Combat
Strategy Combat, as the name already suggests, is one of the most traditional interpretations of a game revolving around large scale battles, base building and overall strategic combat. In this game you’re the commander of a small armored task force that just took over a well-fortified camp with a heavy industry sector. A perfect score for an aspiring field marshal and also the foundation for your upcoming endeavors. Expand your base and your production, raise an army and take the fight to your rivals in Strategy Combat.
Fortify and expand your base of operation
Starting out in Strategy Combat you are still far away from being a famous warlord. With just a few tanks, possibly leftover models from the great war, you are set on winning your first battles. A compelling tutorial introduces you to the core mechanics of the game, like taking over bases, expanding them and producing units. Not long after you are sitting in your own little hideout, have the steel, oil and concrete factories running and get to plan your next steps towards victory.
Build vehicles from the great war and the modern age
One of the things that Strategy Combat really nailed down is the depiction of the historic tanks and vehicles. Initially you have to make do with things like the Ehrhardt E-V/4 and its “Ballonabwehrkanone”, an upward facing artillery piece on a lightly armored car. Mostly used to take down espionage balloons during the great war. As you progress down the tech tree you get access to numerous other vehicles, ranging from the very old ones from the beginning of the 20th century, up to the WWII era vehicle and even some modern types in the late game. All of them come with specific purposes like artillery pieces which are great at taking out base defenses or the aforementioned Erhardt E-V/4 which is…well, isn’t that great. But you get the idea!
Measure your strength with others
So now that you have a somewhat sizeable army, what do you do with it? Well, how about visiting your neighbors? First off though: The world in Strategy Combat is massive and you are far from alone in this world. You will have people living very close by and since at some point you can have quite a few bases it can become very profitable to raid your competitors. To avoid that happening to you though, we highly recommend investing into defenses and alike because as you can imagine its way funnier to win a battle then it is to lose a battle.

The Bottom Line
Strategy Combat is a game that’s really straight to the point. In hindsight the games’
name already made that pretty clear. There isn’t anything superior flashy about the visual representation in this game but if its one thing, then it’s an absolutely solid strategy game. It has basically everything you want from such a game. Base building, a huge roster of units and it also provides a proper competitive environment in which players can really put their skills to the test. The result is an uncompromising but appealing free to play title that is definitely worth checking.
