In our play through we chose the Templar, a melee based character that offers a well-rounded mix of strong melee attacks and a sturdy defense. Other options would have been for example an orc barbarian or a nimble high elf archer – all of which looked pretty damn impressive for a free to play titles. Outstanding visuals and sound Outstanding is most likely the correct word to describe the overall visual appearance of Raid: Shadow Legends. The graphics are simply marvelous, especially for a free to play game that is also playable on your phone. The attacks, the animations and even the professional voice over really left us surprised. Raid: Shadow Legends is a game that definitely had some production value and it shows every second. No matter if you’re in combat, in your base overview or in one of the many dialogues throughout your campaign to reconquer Telaria, Raid: Shadow Legends is a real piece of eye candy. Form a new band of heroes Since your friends have just been roasted by that dragon, you are beginning your adventure on your own. Soon after though you will meet your first new allies that usually can be acquired in the form of rare crystals. These crystals basically hold a sort of essence within them that can be unlocked by the spirit guardian of Telaria. Depending on the rarity of the crystal you will be able to recruit powerful allies into your service. Each of these allies comes with a unique set of skills that can not only be developed but also needs to be adjusted in accordance with the type of foe you are fighting. In this regard Raid: Shadow Legends provides a compelling argument for different hero setups that you can run in rotations or depending on your task at hand. Each of these types does serve a critical role and comes with certain edges and flaws. To get an idea of the proper use of each ship, the game does give you a brief overview of ships statistics, ranging from survivability to concealment and information on the weaponry of the specific ship. Furthermore each warship has been built with an enormous amount of detail and historical accuracy – the same accuracy and detail, which helped with the success of World of Warplanes and World of Tanks. Fluent and very polished gameplay: Something that we really did enjoy was the transitioning of these huge steel chunks into the actual gameplay. While some of the bigger ships are somewhat slow and hard to move around the coastline or other obstacles, it is just because they are so unbelievably huge. Yes, aircraft carriers and Battleships do have some serious firepower but when they are being attacked by highly mobile Cruisers and Destroyers, they really have to rely on the help of their allies. Therefore it was reassuring to witness, that the developers really did manage to assign certain roles to specific types of ships and that the game did not become a naval long range slugfest. Especially the mages since the devastating art of elemental magic is beautifully integrated into the game and becomes some true eye candy once the mages gains access to some of the more powerful spells in the game. Smack a god and use its powers: Aside from the usual classes, Eternal Fury: Resurrected introduced the so called “Deity System”. The Deity System is basically working like a modern version of Mega Man games. It goes like this, at some point in the game you will encounter several ancient gods, each of those gods has a unique power, such as Odin for example is pretty well trained in using lightning based attacks. Once you managed to beat the Deity, you can access to its power, providing a huge buff to your overall combat capacities. Therefore it is highly recommended trying to grab as many godly powers as possible, even though some of the fights can become pretty tricky if your character isn’t developed enough at that point. But then again, isn’t that exactly what makes you want to have that specific power even more? Off to space! Wait, what?: So, here we have a game that has the three most common classes in RPG history, a cool system where you can acquire the power of gods and what else might be missing at this point? Correct! Space vessels! Yup, in Eternal Fury: Resurrected you will eventually get your own spaceship, being able to visit far away planets and fight the countless threats that are lurking in the dark corners of the universe. Now that was a design choice that bewildered us at first, but taking a closer look we simply have to appreciate this neat little feature, since your own space ship is fully customizable and you can even morph its whole appearance to your personal liking. Before we get to that point though, we’d like to introduce you to something that’s also pretty hot. These past few days we played the free to play strategy hit Desert Order, a recently released browser game that might be right up your alley. Suddenly we were the ones who dictated what happened to the surrounding bases and should anyone decide to attack us, the retaliation would’ve been devastating. Aside from the social aspect, we really enjoyed the tactics that you gain access to when playing with others. Especially in terms of mixing different types of units, you have so much more leeway, because another player can jump in and assist you with his forces, helping you out when push comes to shove. Authentic weaponry and uniforms Another detail that Enlisted really picked up on was the implementation of authentic weaponry and uniforms. Wield the iconic Mosin Nagant on the side of the Russian forces or embrace your trust Karabiner 98 and go for those juicy one-taps on other players. Unlike in some other shooters, a hit to the center of the body is usually a death sentence in Enlisted. Its pretty easy to kill and be killed – something that can easily be forgotten in the way other games do portrait wars. The consequence is that Enlisted usually favors a methodical playstyle that rewards squads that strategize, flank and trying to take key objectives on the map. In that regard its pretty safe to say that Enlisted is directed more towards a mature audience that is looking for an authentic world war two shooter and less for an arcadelike run and gun. Twelve special classes – one for each job Potentially one of the most interesting features of Enlisted is its class system. As of now you get to choose between twelve different classes, each of those having its own unique perks. While its pretty obvious what a Sniper might do on the battlefield, there are others like the Radio Operator or the Engineer, which should also be part of any team. The aforementioned Radio Operator is needed to call in heavy artillery strikes to level enemy fortifications and allow for your infantry or tanks to push. The engineer on the other hand does actually build most of the fortifications. Sand bags, MG nests and AT guns are only some of the things an engineer can bring to the battlefield. Well, we sure do and even though these games seem to pop up everywhere now, we have to say that we haven’t seen a game like CRSED:F.O.A.D yet. Also there is no waiting around, because the game cuts the prolonged setup phase and drops you and up to 30 other players right into the world. From there on onwards the looting, the shooting and the crazy kitchen warfare ensues. All pans intended: So when everyone is wearing pans, colanders and cooking pots as helmets, what else is there? Well, for example the backpacks that you usually carry in other battle royale games are swapped out for shopping or tote bags – how fancy. By the time your character is fully geared, you look pretty much like a hobo in underwear that has strapped more than five pans and pots onto his or her body while carrying your Chanel bag full of ammunition. To top all this off map drops with high end loot are also a thing in CRSED:F.O.A.D but as you might imagine, they have also been altered in the corresponding way. Huge refrigerators are occasionally dropping from the sky, providing weaponry or buffs for the daring player who takes the risk of opening one of these highly sought after items. Wacky, but not whack: Despite all the wackiness that we saw when playing CRSED:F.O.A.D, deep down it is still a competitive Battle Royale game. You notice that for example when wearing all these “armor” items. Pots, colanders and whatnot are clunky, loud and will eventually give away your position to other players. Those who decide to carry all this additional protection will do that at a price. Aside from that the gunplay and the action itself is absolutely solid. This game might look like a joke but in terms of gameplay it sure doesn’t make any. Its fast, its competitive and its fun. We already broke a lance in this game, and here is what we have to say about our experiences. Get into the skin of a venerable lady or a strong knight, and have a special adventure. Depending on the part you want to take, the focus of your gameplay will be either on the farm simulation or rather on the fighting, which almost makes Knights and Brides two games in one. Knight or noble lady: As mentioned before, you have to make an important decision in the beginning, establishing which way your gameplay is going. For our test we decided on the knight because we just couldn’t miss out on the duels. Had we decided on the lady, then our base wouldn’t have looked like a tournament arena, but it would have been a beautiful piece of land in which we would have spent our time. Considering all this we must say that Knights and Brides really goes a special road that we’ve never seen any other browser game take, which makes this game truly unique. In our first game test we just chose on of the available knights and plunged directly into battle. A short but nice tutorial introduced us to the game world and before we knew it, we were surrounded by robbers and rogues. We fought in duel after duel, but it wasn’t until we played again as a lady that we realized this game is actually two games. The focus here wasn’t on duels anymore, but on growing a garden, and we found it so nice that we forgot all about the knight life we led before. We really believe that Knights and Brides is a unique game that can truly keep up with the competition.
